Beautiful village situated at 17 km far from Salamanca.
Alba's story is linked to the House of Alba and Sta Teresa de Jesus. His remains rest in the convent of the Annunciation of Mother Carmelite.
During the tour we can visit:
The Basilica, from neogothic style, began at 1898, due to Padre Cámara, bishop of Salamanca, for pilgrims who could arrive to Alba to venerate the reliques. It's not finished yet.
Church of San Juan. Situated at main square, the style is romanesque-múdejar, from the XII century.
Convent of Santa Isabel. At this convent Santa Teresa was living while she was to sigh the fondation of her convent of the Annuntiation.
Convent of Annuntiation.
Discalced Carmelites. This convent is the eight foundation of Teresa, in 1571. She arrived in gravely ill at the request of the Duchesse of Alba. She died in this convent the 4-10-1582, the same year in which the reformation of the gregorian calendar took place , because of that her death date is 15 october.
At the main altar is her tomb, also venerated as reliques her left arm and her heart.
Teresa de Jesús was canonized at 1622.
