CIUDAD RODRIGO
Situated on the south west part of the province of Salamanca, bordering with the province of Cáceres and Portugal.
The city preserves the prehistoric celtic boar, situated at the square of the castle. From roman times it preserves the Three columns, which belong to the coat of arms of the city which the special meaning of : very old, very noble and very loyal city of Ciudad Rodrigo.
Its military wall is considered as one of the best,ordered to be maid by King Ferdinand II of León.
The castle, situated on the highest part of the city, was ordered to be maid in 1372 by King Enrique II of Trastamara. Today is the National Parador.
The cathedral of Santa Maria. It was begun at 1165 but the work finish about six centuries later.
SAN FELICES DE LOS GALLEGOS
It's situated in a crossing of old paths and roman roads. It was the place in which the different wars between Spain and Portugal took place.
During the Independence war, the head quarters were also established there.
REAL FUERTE DE LA CONCEPCION
Situated in Aldea del Obispo.
For understanding the construction of this military building, we have to be situated in the military uprising of Portugal against the spanish domination, at the end of 1640.
The Fuerte began to be made at 1663, and the work last about a year. It was, later, partly demolished by the spanish troops to avoid the portuguese troops could use it.
Portugal recover its independence from Spain at 1668.
